Delivering nucleic acids to specific organs and cell types is a key challenge in developing future therapeutics, from rare genetic diseases to cancer. Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) represent a tunable and modular platform for addressing many of these delivery challenges. However, screening LNPs for specific targeting and transfection efficiency can be difficult due to the large number of possible components and formulation combinations.
To simplify early-stage screening, Cayman Chemical has developed screening-ready reagent sets composed of lipids selected for their reported organ- and cell-targeting properties. Using Unchained Labs' Sunshine™ and Stunner™ instruments, published formulations from the LipidLaunch™ Lung Screening Set were evaluated, and key biophysical properties were assessed. This yields valuable insight before going to the next stage of assessing in vitro cytotoxicity and transfection efficiency.
By combining curated reagent sets with accessible analytical tools, researchers can rapidly generate and evaluate diverse LNP formulations, simplifying the development of targeted delivery strategies for lung-directed applications. Attendees will gain practical insights into leveraging curated lipid libraries and streamlined characterization workflows to efficiently identify and assess promising LNP formulations.
