“By embedding next‑generation analytics into highly automated workflows within the manufacturing process we can turn autologous CAR‑T cell into a global standard of care.”
CAR‑T cell therapy has revolutionized the field of oncology providing a new therapeutic modality which seeks to re‑engineer the patient’s own immune system to target the malignancy. These therapies are often autologous in nature and therefore require an individualized manufacture and accompanying analytical testing regime. This labor‑intensive process currently struggles with scalability, resulting in high COGs and prohibitive list prices that limit patient access. As the field expands into solid tumors and autoimmune indications, the current manufacturing paradigm must evolve. This article explores whether automation both in manufacturing and analytics could provide the solution.
